New York Fashion Week officially kicked off on Friday, September 6, with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) at Rockefeller Center, but one of New York’s most famous designers was already looking ahead to his Spring/Summer 2025 collection.
Ralph Lauren hosted a fashion show in the Hamptons on Thursday evening, September 5th, featuring an impressive line-up of celebrity guests.
A host of celebrities, including Dr. Jill Biden, Usher, Kacey Musgraves, Naomi Campbell, Naomi Watts, Laura Dern, Joey King, Justin Theroux, and Jude Law, gathered in the front row or on the runway at Bridgehampton’s Callie Stables equestrian facility to watch the debut of the 84-year-old designer’s latest ready-to-wear collection. The posh Long Island location was perhaps appropriate, because these styles and their offshoots are sure to be seen all over the Hamptons next year.
Ralph Lauren also has a sizable boutique in East Hampton Village, a Polo Ralph Lauren shop in a historic building in East Hampton, and a Ralph Lauren store in Southampton.
The runway show itself was praised for its diversity, showcasing models of different ages, ethnicities and body types.
“There were literally people of all colors, shapes and sizes, and everyone was there and felt like they were in it together,” actor Colman Domingo, a front-row guest, told The Associated Press.
Like many American billionaires, Lauren owns a beachfront mansion out east, and the designer’s four-bedroom home in Montauk is known to be decked out with furniture from his own brand.
“The Hamptons is more than just a place. It’s a natural world of endless blue skies, ocean, green fields, white picket fences, simplicity and elegance, and the quality of light that drew artists there decades ago,” Lauren said in the show notes. “It’s my home, my refuge, and it’s always been a place of inspiration.”
The Bridgehampton show featured classic cars from Lauren’s personal collection that are said to have inspired his new designs, and of course live horses and riders were on hand to add to the atmosphere.
To celebrate the new collection, Ralph Lauren’s signature Manhattan restaurant, Polo Bar, opened a Hamptons pop-up store on the premises, where guests could tuck into specialty burgers, sip martinis, and nibble on Americana-themed treats while chatting about clothes (or whatever the famous and wealthy talk about at private parties).
“The #RalphLaurenSP25 Fashion Show celebrates Ralph Lauren’s appreciation of natural beauty, family and friends and timeless style,” the brand shared on Instagram.
Ralph Lauren is already having a big year in front of the American public: The designer designed the U.S. team uniforms and team kits for the Olympics and has a strong presence on the court and throughout the stadium at the ongoing U.S. Open tennis tournament in Queens.
